EWR excels at GSA Symposium

Several Environmental and Water Resources Engineering (EWR) graduate students participated in the 33rd Annual Graduate Student Assembly (GSA) Research Symposium held on March 29th, 2017. The student competitions at the symposium included oral and poster presentations, with graduate students from different departments at Virginia Tech presenting their research. EWR had three winners at the symposium.

The following is the list of student winners from EWR:

Shiqiang Zou: Gold award, Oral presentation

Topic: Nutrient energy water recovery from high-strength wastewater using microbial electrolysis cell

Syeed Iskander: 1st Place Interdisciplinary Scholar Award, Oral presentation

Topic: Integrating microbial desalination with forward osmosis to complement water recovery from landfill leachate

Shuai Luo: Silver award, Poster presentation

Topic: Mathematical model for integrated photo-bioelectrochemical system
