The Ground Water Pollution Primer is an ongoing project by students in the Civil Engineering Department and Crop and Soil Environmental Science Department at Virginia Tech. Each term, students in one or more classes are required to write a web page on a topic of their choice dealing with ground water pollution. These pages are collected and incorporated into the Primer. This is a long term project. Further topics will be added each semester. The overall goal is a student-authored document that can serve as a resource to other students and the general public.
Currently, two other primers are available, the first on Water Treatment at:
The Primer contains a wide variety of photos, drawings, video, animations, and sound clips. The multimedia components were developed on a wide variety of systems. All have been tested successfully on a Windows 95 PC running Netscape 3.0 Gold with Quicktime plug-in. The material should be accessible from other systems and browsers, although you may need the appropriate plug-in. It is best viewed in 800x600 or higher video resolution.
The Ground Water Pollution is copyrighted by Daniel Gallagher and the respective authors. It may freely be used for educational and other noncommercial purposes as long as proper credit is given.
The students used a strict interpretation of copyright in preparing their pages. Photos, videos, drawings, and other material is either original, used with permission, or in the public domain. Links, but not copies, of material appearing on other web sites was permitted. Please contact me at dang@vt.edu if you feel a copyright has been violated and the material will be removed.
