Spring 2017 is shaping up to be a busy and exciting semester for the Sustainable Land Development Club (SLDC). Under the direction of a new president, senior Dan Peets, the club already has a several exciting events planned. On March 17th and 18th, club members will travel to Virginia’s Tidewater region to visit a number of project sites hosted by Greg Deubler of Pennoni. These field trips provide students with an unparalleled educational opportunity to observe different types of land development projects in various stages of construction. On Tuesday, March 21st, Dewberry’s Skip Notte will visit campus to lead LDDI’s fifth annual Design Charrette and Competition. After being introduced to a site design challenge, student groups will have one hour to work toward a design that will be judged by a panel of local land development professionals. All students participating in the event will receive a prize, with the top placing teams rewarded with gift cards to Buffalo Wild Wings! The SLDC also welcomes a new Service Project Coordinator this semester. Senior Alex Wells is actively managing a number of SLDC students as they continue work on FloydFest and other Across the Way Productions events.
