Sergio Ballivian received Torgersen Graduate Research Excellence Award

Sergio Ballivian received 2nd place for the M.S. presentation category for the prestigious Paul E. Torgersen Research Excellence Award.  Sergio presented his research work “Indoor localization of individuals through depth sensors.” He is working on his master’s research under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Farrokh Jazizadeh through VCEMP.

CEM students receive scholarships from CMAA

Diana M. Franco-Duran and Sogand Hasanzadeh, both PhD students, received 2018 Scholarships from CMAA’s National Capital Chapter for their leadership achievements and future potential.  Both Diana and Sogand are officers of CMAA’s Student Chapter at Virginia Tech.

Sogand Hasanzadeh wins poster competition

Sogand Hasanzadeh, a PhD student in VCEMP, received the 1st place award for her poster entitled, “Automatic Cognitive Monitoring for Risk-Taking Behavior Prediction” at the ASCE Construction Research Congress held in April in New Orleans.
